Show Your Jewellery the Respect it Deserves

For years I travelled around so much for work I did not have an actual place to call home. I had belongings in my parents attic, more in a friends closet, and then there was the stuff I schlepped around with me. During that time I made a vow to myself that once I was settled, I would properly organise my jewellery. While going back and forth between North America, South America, Mainland Europe, and the United Kingdom I carried my cherished necklaces, earrings and bracelets in things I can’t bear to admit. And yes, at one stage doubled up plastic bags were involved.

Flash forward, I finally selected a house and laid down some roots. The time to detangle my accessories had arrived. To do the same follow these instructions. You will be making four divided trays, two of which lay underneath on the bottom of a drawer, and the others are connected with wood glue to slide back and forth so you can see below. To make this a seamless sliding motion, attach strips of properly sized molding to the sides of the drawer. I am not going to attempt to provide measurements, as drawer sizes will vary. Alternate the size of the boxes within the trays to fit pins, necklaces, rings etc. Finally, and I think this is the best part, paint the whole thing a fascinating colour like tangerine, or aquamarine. Such colours make everything pop, and as these are your treasures, they should be showcased, not disrespected like mine were for so long.
